Ford To Export India-Made EcoSport To US

Ford EcoSport is one of the most renowned compact SUVs in the world. Even in India, customers love the entire recipe – compact dimensions, funky styling and potent performance – at the price of a premium hatchback. However, the current EcoSport has been facing a lot of heat lately from its arch rival, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It is time for Ford to fight back; and earlier this week, the American auto major unveiled the EcoSport facelift, which is slated to go on sale in the US in 2018.

Ford has now announced that the refreshed EcoSport will be exported from India to the US. So we can assume that the EcoSport facelift will go on sale in India before Ford starts shipping it away to the US. This move comes out as a gutsy one since Ford has been under attack from the newly elected President of the US, Donald Trump, for moving the production of its small cars from the US to Mexico.

Speaking to USA Today, Michael O’Brien, marketing manager for SUVs at Ford, said, “We build EcoSport in six locations around the globe. We sell it in 100 markets, and so, just like we make Explorers and export from here into other global markets, we are going to export EcoSport from Asia Pacific, and we are going to sell it here in the US."

The revamped EcoSport comes with a host of new features, and updated interiors and exteriors in the same compact size that the current model is packaged in. While the automaker has only released the specs of the refreshed EcoSport for the US market, we expect Ford to equip the Indian variant with enough gadgetry for it to outgun its competition in terms of price, features and performance.
