Earlier this year in June, Hyundai took the wraps off the 2016 SantaFe facelift. Christened the SantaFe Prime in the Korean market, the car sports new comfort, convenience and safety features than the current generation model.
While the overall design of the SantaFe continues to be in line with the family design language, the front and rear bumpers have been remoulded to enhance the overall appeal. The fog lamps and the LED Daytime Running Lamps too have been redesigned. At the front, a new layout for the xenon projector headlamps has been applied, while the rear lamps feature a fresh LED graphic.
Changes to the car aren’t just restricted to the exterior. On the inside too, Hyundai has updated the instrument cluster and the Audio-Visual navigation system to keep it in sync with the premium image of the car. Other changes include new materials on the inside and exterior colour options.
Major change on the refreshed 2016 SantaFe is with regards to safety. Hyundai has fitted the new SantaFe with Autonomous Emergency Braking, which alerts the drivers to unexpected emergency situations using radar and camera sensors. The car has also been fitted with multiple cameras to give a 360 degree view to the driver.
As far as the engines are concerned, the 2016 SantaFe Facelift will continue to use the same engines - the 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre four-cylinder VGT turbo diesels. The engine now meet the Euro 6 emission standards and have also got a bump in power. The 2.0-litre model now makes 186PS and 402Nm while the 2.2-litre unit churns 202PS and 441Nm.
