We are quite aware of how short lived Honda’s Civic Hybrid sedan offering proved to be in India last year, and now with the production of the eco-friendly sedan now having come to a full stop, Honda may look at returning with a Hybrid version of Honda’s B-Segment powerful performer, the Honda Jazz that will go on sale in the UK later this year.
Making its global premiere at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in September last year, the new Jazz will feature the same engine as Honda’s Insight hybrid; a 1.3-litre i-VTEC engine combined with a CVT gearbox, with an electric motor sandwiched between the two to create a parallel hybrid system. The hybrid Jazz like the Insight and Civic Hybrid models will be capable of running on the electric motor alone under some medium and low speed conditions. The hybrid version of Jazz manages to maintain low fuel consumption and similar CO2 emissions of 104 g/km* 21g/km less than the current lowest-emitting 1.2-litre petrol. Honda has added this cleaner hybrid technology to the supermini while retaining the flexibility of its unique folding Magic Seats.

To celebrate the entry of this low emission fun-loving car, Gaucho Productions, a London-based film and digital agency, has produced the launch film for the new Honda Jazz Hybrid. The two minute film was commissioned by Honda Motor Europe, and debuted at the international press launch of the Jazz Hybrid, and will be used for press and marketing across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
A short two minute clip depicting an emotive ‘day in the life’ of a young, charismatic urbanite Elena, the film has been shot in Barcelona over two days using the Red One camera. The film adopts a handheld, fluid style, reflecting the energy of ‘Elena’ and her car. The musical score was composed for the film in London. Gaucho’s creative director, Ben Hume-Paton, directed the movie.
Impressed with the final outcome of the advertisement that will be used for promoting the launch of the new Hybrid from Honda, Christoph Rust, Manager, Product PR, Honda Motor Europe said, “Gaucho are great at portraying our prodhucts exactly how we want them to be seen. I appreciate their skill at utilising modern technology to create clean and simple imagery, while withstanding the temptation to abuse it for excessive effect. We have done a lot of work with Gaucho Productions and not only have we arrived at great results, we’ve always had fun along the way.”
