Get Excited: Skoda Is Making A Kodiaq RS!

Looks like Skoda’s big bear, the Kodiaq, wandered off into the evil labs of their RS division. And the mad hatters there convinced the big seven-seater SUV it could do fast lap times and make families bond at the same. You know, all of them can be scared together. The Kodiaq has bitten the bullet, and we now see it prepping to lap the Nurburgring with none other than Sabine Schmitz in the pilot seat.

Of course, you’re excited to know what’s underneath the camo. What engine is it packing? Well, Skoda quashed our expectations right at the start of the release. “This article is the first time any information on the Škoda Kodiaq RS has been released. Don’t expect to find out anything specific about the engine, performance or top speed yet,” they said.

But, what did raise a few eyebrows was this part of the release which read “but very soon you can look forward to something you wouldn’t have expected of a seven-seater SUV.”

Now, this is an RS we’re talking about so we’ve got expectations. Big ones. A lowered ride height, possibly a wider track, a sporty set of bumpers, bigger wheels - gah! We’re bubbling at the thought of all of this. The interiors too should get a splash of Alcantara, some mock carbon fibre too, and that lovely RS steering.

The motors? That’s a mystery for now. But rumours suggest it will be equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel motor that should pump out 240PS of power and 500Nm of torque. If that seems un-RS-like to you, remember Skoda makes an Octavia RS diesel for Euro markets as well.

It’s too soon to be talking about if and when it will come to India. But we can only hope. And pray. Mostly pray.
