Almost two years after the tragic demise of Karl Slym, Tata Motors has appointed Guenter Butschek, the former COO of aircraft giant Airbus as the new CEO and Managing Director for Tata Motors. He will be leading all Tata Motors operations in India and international markets like, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa. The new appoinment in no way affects the heirarchy of Jaguar Land Rover which will still be lead by Dr Ralf Speth, CEO and Director JLR and Tata Motors Board memeber.
In addition to holding the post of COO he was also a member of the Group Executive Committee and has also worked with Daimler AG for 25 years.
On the occasion Cyrus P Mistry, Chairman, Tata Motors, said, “Tata Motors is going through an exciting yet challenging phase and Mr Butschek’s appointment comes at an opportune moment. He brings with him rich global experience of growing organizations and developing new markets."
