In its 10th year now, Gulf Foster A Child Car Drive once again brought a platter full of smiles for the less privileged
Gulf Foster A Child Car Drive

Gulf Foster A Child Car Drive is one of those events which have made a perfect amalgamation of rally driving and social cause. With a compulsion to have at least one under-privileged child in the crew of each car, the organisers have shown a way to foster these little ones.

The drive is an annual Gulf Oil Corporation-sponsored event which took place on February 12, 2012. The event was flagged off from Our Lady's Home, Parel, Mumbai, and closed at Dukes Retreat & Key Resorts, Khandala, covering a total distance of 120kms. The rally was based on the theme: Don't Drink & Drive, Global Warming, Malnutrition and Cancer.

However, the rally was not a typical Time-Speed-Distance rally. It had its own rules: After the route charts being handed over a minute before the flag off time, the participants were supposed to answer questions based on the rally every time they met a marshal on their way.

It was on the basis of the correct answers and duration of the event that the winners were chosen. Trophies and medals were given to the best team and winner of all ladies team, while a trophy was given to the best decorated car based on the theme given. About 50 to 60 lesser privileged kids from Mumbai's orphanages had joined the families in their cars for the rally.
