The rumble could be heard loud and clear. Locals may have mistaken this for thunder as the weather gods had decided to cover Delhi in dark clouds that were laying their wrath on the city by drenching it in a heavy downpour, but those in the know knew that this was no rumble of thunder, but the sound of numerous Harley-Davidson engines firing up for an inaugural ride through Delhi's streets.

The downpour on an early Sunday morning didn't deter the riders from making their way through the streets of Delhi and finally to India Gate. A total of 35 kilometers might sound insignificant on a Harley-Davidson, but these were the first 'official' kilometers covered by a group of Harley owners who had gathered from Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore to show their love for the bike and enthusiasm about the fact that Harley-Davidson was indeed in India. Indeed, this event is set to go down as the first H.O.G (Harley Owners Group) ride in India!

The line-up for this historic ride included a selection of new, 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a 1943 and 1945 Harley-Davidson model WLA, a 1948 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead, a 2000 Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce, a 2003 Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider, a 2008 Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special, and a 2008 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. As expected, these bikes were followed not just by the media crews present in throngs, but by onlookers and other cars who gave chase to the convoy in order to soak in what these beautiful machines deliver in terms of style essence and literally a culture of their own.

Amongst the riders was Harley-Davidson Motor Company President and Chief Operating Officer, Matt Levatich, and newly appointed Managing Director of Harley-Davidson India, Anoop Prakash who reveled in the fact that Harley has gotten off to such a warm welcome despite the rains!>

Well, there you have it, Harley-Davidson India is now go, so if you really want to ride in this company which is almost a religion of its own, then its time to save up those precious Rupees and come 2010 you can walk into a Harley-Davidson dealership buy your bike, kit yourself out with some original accessories and ride out in style.
