With just about three weeks left for the last date for the sale of BS4 cars (March 31), car dealerships have several ongoing offers to incentivise sales. For you, the consumer, it means that getting a new car is less expensive right now than it has been in the past few years. But there’s no time to wait. After the BS6 deadline the discounts will be gone forever and some carmakers will hike prices to make up for losses incurred in updating engines to meet the new norms. If you have already decided which body style you'd like to get discounts on, here are our stories for BS4 discounts on SUVS, MPVs, sedans, and hatchbacks. If you haven't decided yet, here are the top BS4 car offers for you:
We love the Harrier’s high-speed manners and refinement. That Land Rover-derived chassis shrugs off Indian potholes as if they are mere dimples in the road. You can get one for a Rs 1 lakh cash discount. If you trade in your old car and avail the corporate discount, you can get Rs 1.4 lakh off the ex-showroom price.
Its sorted driving manners, commodious insides and Honda’s reputation for reliability and durability have kept the City an aspirational vehicle in India. Dealerships can offer you benefits totalling Rs 72,000. If you have more cash lying around, the 2020 City is just around the corner.

Its light chassis and smooth four-cylinder engine make the Swift an enthusiast’s delight. While that petrol motor has been updated to BS6, the 1.3 diesel is headed for the guillotine. Get yours for half a lakh off the ex-showroom price at Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships.
Renault Duster:
It might not have connected car features and a name-brand sound system but the Duster has one thing new subcompact SUVs don’t: all wheel drive. Since the Duster’s most appealing feature has been discontinued, this month could be your last chance to get this off-road-capable compact SUV. Depending on variant and availability, you can get up to Rs 2 lakh off the Duster’s price.
Okay, so it doesn’t look like a shark and has a smaller boot than the Innova. But as a people carrier, the Marazzo offers interesting looks and incredible comfort for the price. Dealership benefits can amount to Rs 1.66 lakh for the MPV.
If you want an entry-level German car that can carry four people in comfort, the Rapid is the most economical choice. The diesel made enthusiasts out of us, but it will not be updated to BS6. Discounts range from Rs 1.36 lakh for the petrol automatic variants to Rs 1.58 lakh for diesels.
Its price was always the CR-V’s biggest problem. It’s always been a family hauler with a secret penchant for well-paved, twisty roads. If you’ve been disheartened by its price tag before, know that it’s going for a Rs 5 lakh discount at dealerships right now.
Petrolhead or not, we all love the Octy. From the Teutonic first generation to the sophisticated current-generation, the Skoda Octavia has always been of value to those who could afford it. Skoda dealerships are offering benefits and discounts of up to Rs 2.4 lakh, so it’s time to break the bank.
The humble Kwid affords few luxuries but puts on a brave face for every challenge the Indian landscape throws at it. The facelift retains the Kwid’s grown-up ride quality and has made it the best-looking car in its segment. The pre-facelift model is going for Rs 45,000 less while the sleeker Kwid is discounted by Rs 25,000.
We forgave Honda for withdrawing the Civic from India for so many years because the latest generation is a gem despite its silly engine and gearbox combinations. You can get discounts of up to Rs 2 lakh on cars made this year and up to Rs 2.5 lakh on 2019 cars.
