We now have a better idea of what the XUV700’s infotainment system can do

  • Mahindra XUV700’s infotainment system will support video playback.
  • It should also feature Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car tech.
  • The infotainment system has nice, legible icons and neat dials.
  • The upcoming SUV is slated to launch around August 2021.
  • It’s likely to be priced from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom) onward.

A video of the Mahindra XUV700 has surfaced online, under which its twin screens -- the infotainment system and the digital instrument display -- can be seen in action. The video also sheds light on certain features of the new infotainment system that Mahindra will offer soon.

The XUV700’s infotainment system supports video playback, so you can watch your favourite movie or series right inside your car. It should also come with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car tech. Besides, we suspect it can be controlled via touch inputs or a swivel wheel a la a BMW or Mercedes-Benz.

Both screens seem to offer a clean and simple interface with large icons for easier operation. The dials are also legible and easy to view on the move thanks to the dark theme. Both the screens are placed under a single slab of glass, mimicking Merc setups.

Other notable features include dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, and possibly level-1 autonomous driving tech. Passengers’ safety should be covered by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Mahindra has confirmed the XUV700 will be provided with both petrol and diesel engines. We suspect it to be a more powerful version of the Thar’s 150PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 130PS 2.2-litre diesel units. Both engines should be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions as well as optional all-wheel drive.
