It Is The First Fuel-injected Scooter In India!

Hero Maestro Edge 125: Five Things To Know

The Hero Maestro Edge 125 is the first scooter in India to be equipped with fuel injection. Not only will it be more fuel efficient than the Carb variant, but it’ll also help the scooter run cleaner and comply with upcoming BS 6 emission norms. However, it should be noted that the FI variant misses out on Hero’s i3S (idle start-stop) system that is offered on the Carb variant.

It Gets Top-Shelf Features. Well, Almost.

Hero Maestro Edge 125: Five Things To Know

The Maestro Edge 125 gets goodies such as telescopic forks, alloy wheels, an LED tail lamp, an optional disc brake (a first for any Hero scooter), external fuel filler cap and semi-digital console. However, we do wish Hero had given us LED headlamps and a front disc brake as standard.

Powering the Maestro Edge 125 is the same engine as the Destini 125. This 124.6cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor, however, makes slightly more power at 9.24PS at 7000rpm (Destini 125 - 8.8PS). However, torque remains unchanged at 10.2Nm at 5000rpm. We also expect the Maestro Edge to carry a slightly sportier state of tune considering it weighs 20kg lighter than Destini 125. However, we will reserve our judgment until our first ride review of the scooter.

The Carb variant, on the other hand, gets a whole palette of matte colours, including blue, brown, grey and red.

It’s Priced Competitively

The Hero Maestro Edge 125 is priced from Rs 58,500 for the i3S drum variant, Rs 60,000 for the i3S disc variant and the FI variant retails for Rs 62,700. The carb disc variant of the Hero Maestro Edge 125 undercuts the Honda Grazia (Rs 65,095) and the Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 60,188) while being slightly more expensive than the TVS NTorq (Rs 59,900) (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). However, considering the added benefits of FI, we’d recommend you opt for this top-spec variant.
