Hero’s most popular motorcycle is now around Rs 7,000 more expensive than before
  • Power is down by 0.36PS, while torque figure remains the same.
  • Gets new paint options.
  • No change in underpinnings.
  • We were a bit skeptical about how manufacturers would update their commuter motorcycles to meet the new BS6 emission norms considering the impact on price. But some, like Hero MotoCorp, have managed to keep the prices of their bread-and-butter motorcycles competitive.

Along with the BS6-compliant Destini 125 and the Maestro Edge 125, Hero has also rolled out the BS6-compliant Splendor Plus. With prices starting from Rs 59,600 and going all the way up to Rs 63,110, the Hero BS6 Splendor Plus is now around Rs 7,000 more expensive than before.

    Variant

    BS6

    BS4

    Rs 59,600

    Rs 52,800

    Rs 54,800

    Rs 7,100

Self with alloy wheel and i3S

    Rs 63,110

    Rs 56,200

To keep costs in check, Hero MotoCorp hasn’t packed in any fancy features. The Splendor range is as vanilla as it can get. However, Hero has added a few new paint options to make things a tad interesting. But apart from that, the rest of the styling is pretty much the same as the BS4 model.

The updated fuel-injected 100cc motor now makes 8PS of power and 8.05Nm of torque, which is 0.36PS less than before. Torque is similar to before, but is available at 6000rpm instead of 5000rpm in the BS4 model. The suspension and braking hardware is similar to its predecessor. There’s no confirmation on whether the BS6 variant is more efficient than the previous iteration.
