Driving up the mountains surely requires you to change your driving techniques and packing in a few necessary things. Here are a few things to be kept in mind while driving on a hilly terrain.

When going up a hill, always remember that a number of must-haves and must-dos become mandatory. There is a long list of goodies to pack. However, the first and foremost thing to do is to get your tyres checked. Since, hills require more traction than plains and tyres wear out faster, get them aligned (Read: Tyre Maintenance) and keep your techniques on driving in hills right.

Keep a steady speed while driving on hills rather than hurrying up to reach your destination. This surely takes time, however, blind turns on hills are really risky and you don’t know what is on the other side. While negotiating a blind turn, even at normal speeds, honk, so that people know of your presence.

Having said that, also take frequent breather to refresh yourself. This would also keep you alert at all times. Also, while going downhill, use engine braking and brakes.
