The 8th generation Accord now comes fitted with a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine that churns out a more than healthy 275 PS@6200rpm and makes 339NM of torque @ 5,000 rpm. Moreover, the engine is a technological marvel for smart electronics and sensors allow it to sense driver input and choose between driving on all 6 cylinders, 4 cylinders or just 3 cylinders! Known as Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) the new Accord V6 promises to be a tarmac scorcher yet cheap on the pocket in relative terms.
Design changes on the Accord V6 as compared to its 2.4 litre engined sibling are subtle, yet they point towards a sportier undertone. Firstly, the V6 version rides on 17 inch tyres and it also comes with a dual exhaust. The interiors of the V6 have been spruced up with a wood finish on the dashboard as well as some wood inserts on the steering wheel. Incidentally the V6 is the only Accord model in the entire range to get cruise control. On the safety front, the V6 version gets Variable Stability Assist (VSA) as standard fitment, again a throwback to its sporty nature and also to highlight the fact that this is truly a driver's car.
The car is available in two trim levels, namely the Accord V6 and the Accord V6 Inspire. Apart from all the trim available on the standard V6 the Inspire version comes with a body kit that includes a rear spoiler as well.
The Accord V6 is only available as a 5 speed automatic, however Honda has given the car paddle shifts behind the steering wheel just in case you want to have that occasional feeling of switching gears.
