After unveiling it at the Auto Expo 2018, Honda has now updated the prices of the Activa 5G on their website. They start at Rs 52,460 for the standard variant, a hike of Rs 1,000 over the older model, and Rs 54,325 for the newly introduced ‘DLX’ variant (ex-showroom Delhi). The company has updated the legendary scooter with some subtle changes for the upcoming year.
In terms of design, the Activa 5G continues to sport the trademark scooter design of the earlier version. However, the company has now equipped the Activa 5G with all-LED headlamps, a feature that we first saw on the Honda Grazia. Other changes include chrome inserts on the front apron and two new colour options: Metallic Yellow and Red. It also comes with a semi-digital instrument console on the Deluxe variant.
Power still comes from the same 109cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which produces 8PS of power at 7500rpm and 9Nm of torque at 5500rpm, mated to a CVT transmission. Suspension duties are handled by a bottom-link suspension on the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by 130mm drum units on both ends, combined with Honda’s CBS technology. Its 10-inch wheels come wrapped in 90/100 tubeless tyres.
The Honda Activa has been bestselling two-wheeler in India for quite a while now. It’s so popular that almost one Activa is sold every 5 seconds! However, is this update significant enough to ward off competition from the TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro Edge? We can only wait to find out.
