Honda recently unveiled the Activa e:, the electric cousin of the Honda Activa. The Activa e: is powered by two swappable 1.5kWh batteries delivering a claimed range of 102km and, paired to a swingarm-mounted electric motor which makes 6kW and 22Nm. The scooter is available in two variants: Activa e: and Activa e: Honda RoadSync Duo. Let’s have a detailed look at what features does the two variants receive:
The Honda Activa e: gets a 5-inch LCD display with three riding modes: Econ, Standard and Sport with the range and performance varying in each mode. The LCD instrument console displays all the basic information such as speed, odometer, range, battery, tripmeter, modes and other basic tell-tale lights but misses out on connectivity features. The scooter is equipped with LED lighting all-round, a 40W USB-C charging port in the front apron, a smart key and a dedicated reverse mode.
The top-variant of the electric Activa gets a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster instead of the LCD unit. In turn, it gets additional smartphone connectivity features via the Honda RoadSync Duo app such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and music control, live tracking, maintenance alerts, and OTA (over-the-air) updates. The TFT display can be controlled through the switches on the handlebar. All the other features remain the same on both the variants.
Both the variants of the Activa e: have a telescopic fork and a 3-step adjustable monoshock for the suspension setup. It is equipped with a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The electric scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends, has a generous 171mm ground clearance and weighs in at 118kg kerb for the standard variant and 119kg kerb for the Honda RoadSync Duo variant.
The Honda Activa e: is going to launch in January 2025 and the deliveries will begin the following month. The scooter will be launched in phases with Bengaluru being the first city to receive it followed by Mumbai and Delhi. We expect the scooter to be priced around Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and once launched, it will go against the likes of Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Vida V2, etc.
