It has nearly been a year since we got to see the CBF190TR, Honda’s retro naked for the Chinese market. The naked followed Honda’s Neo Sports Cafe design language and had a 184.4cc air-cooled mill powering it. Sadly, it was just a China-only model and we could only hope to see something similar on our roads. Now, Honda is back at it again with the new CBF190X, a touring motorcycle with the same heart, and this bike has certainly piqued our curiosity.
Manufactured by Sundiro Honda, the Japanese manufacturer’s Chinese arm, the new CBF190X borrows design cues from the India-bound CB500X. It gets a small, sharp beak, decently sized windshield, a half fairing and a single-piece seat. The tank section does look rather large but underneath the plastic shroud is a 12-litre fuel tank.

16.86PS and 16.3Nm are pretty decent output figures from a 184.4cc single-cylinder fuel-injected air-cooled mill. The same mill makes 1PS and 1.3Nm less on the naked CBF190TR. Honda must have tuned this motor differently to handle the extra weight of the tourer, as it tips the scales at 149kg.
Given that this is a road-biased adventure tourer (much like the CB500X), you get alloy rims at both ends. Suspension duties are handled by a long-travel USD fork and monoshock units, with petal disc brakes to be found on both wheels. The tyres do look dual-purpose but we guess they are better suited to sticking to tarmac than hitting the dirt.
The CBF190X is never likely to ride into India. That said, with Honda India setting sights on catering to the enthusiasts, we hope that we get a 160-200cc motorcycle just like this one that would be well suited to handle our road conditions.
