The Honda Grazia saw its official launch in the country on the 8th of November. And now, only 21 days since, it has already sold a whopping 15,000 units. This means, on an average, over 700 Grazias have been selling every single day.
The Grazia is the latest addition to the Honda family, and quite a premium one too. The snazzy looking scooter is targeted at young urban riders who are on the lookout for a contemporary-looking ride with new features and decent power.
The angular design lines not only make it look attractive but also gives it a presence that is hard to match. Adding to the chiselled looks is the V-shaped LED headlamp unit that is a segment-first. Another segment-first feature is the switchable 3-step economy indicator and the all-digital instrument panel with a speedometer and tachometer on top. There is also a smaller display placed underneath it. Derived from the Activa 125, the small display offers information like time, fuel gauge, tripmeter and odometer.
While the Grazia looks sporty, it’s still powered by the same air-cooled 124.9cc engine that powers the Activa 125, churning out 8.52PS of power at 6500rpm and 10.54Nm of torque at 5000rpm.
Suspension duties are managed by telescopic front forks and a monsohock at the rear. While the 12-inch front and the 10-inch wheels at the rear are standard, the Grazia comes with an optional 190mm disc brake at the front on the DLX variant. Otherwise, 130mm front and rear drum brakes are the norm.
On the storage and practicality front, Honda has offered a small storage pocket that sits behind the front apron and comes with a mobile charging point (additional accessory). It also gets dedicated boot release button placed next to the ignition key hole, adding to the convenience of accessing the 18 litres of underseat storage.
Another 125cc offering from Honda is the Activa 125, which has been around for quite some time and is a more of a family-oriented scooter in comparison to the Honda Grazia.
Honda has won itself an unparalleled reputation in the scooter segment and the Grazia seems to pack in attractive enough features to make it a more premium offering for buyers. To do as well as the Dio in the 110cc segment, the Grazia has to not just compete with the Access 125 but also the upcoming Aprilia 125, the 125cc scooter that is expected from TVS, and the Suzuki Swish, which is all set to make its come back in a sportier avatar than before.
