The Gold Wing is powered by a six-cylinder 1832cc flat-six engine which makes about 118PS at 5,500rpm and maximum torque of 167Nm. It’s not however, performance only which makes the Gold Wing so popular globally as a luxury touring motorcycle.
“We are excited to introduce one of the finest global offerings of Honda to India. It was our customers' passion for adventure and traveling the open road that really defined the Gold Wing and has further led us to introduce the same in India," said Keita Muramatsu, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India.
The Gold Wing Audio Comfort will be available in Dual Tone Candy Prominence Red and an additional variant, called the Gold Wing Airbag, will be available in Pearl Glare White at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 31.5 lakhs.
“We believe Gold Wing will further contribute to the remarkably rising touring culture in India. In fact, we have recently made the first delivery of The Gold Wing Airbag at our exclusive Wing World in New Delhi,” said Yadvinder S. Guleria, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMSI.
The lightweight and rigid twin-spar aluminium frame and single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm delivers stability neutral and responsive handling. With the warmth to take the sting out of even the longest winter rides, the five-position heated grips, independently adjustable heated seats and foot-warming system make touring a year-round possibility.
Larger panniers on the Gold Wing allow a luggage capacity of over 150 litres. The 6-speaker 80W SRS surround-sound system offers superb sound presence and quality. Riders can play multiple format music files on the move by connecting an iPod®, iPhone® or USB stick.
Honda Gold Wing comes kitted out with both Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) and an Antilock Braking System (ABS) and offers confidence-inspiring braking in all situations and conditions.
The Gold Wing is also fitted with the fully-integrated airbag (available only in Gold Wing- Airbag), which represented an industry-first when introduced in 2006. It features a slow-speed, electric Reverse system which provides the ease of overall manoeuvring in tight spaces and parking areas.
