In a bid to provide its customer residing in the far-off and remote areas of the country with service support, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) launched a new service called Service on Wheels. Within a span of just two years Honda has doubled its dealer network from 1,400 touch-points in 2012 to a projected 2,700 touch-points by end of current FY’2013-14. But due to the vast difference in demography and lack of basic infrastructure in remote villages many Honda customers don’t have a touch-point in their locality. To address this issue, Service on Wheels (SoW) comes in to the picture. As part of SoW, Honda technicians will travel to these remote villages to service the two-wheelers of the Honda customers. Apart from servicing the two-wheelers Honda spare parts will also be available with SOW technicians. This service will be provided at no external cost and the SOW technicians will travel to these remote areas on the Activa scooter.
Elaborating on this customer satisfaction initiative, Keita Muramatsu - President & CEO, HMSI said, “I am happy to announce the all India launch of “Service On Wheels”. With SoW, we are empowering every 2Wheeler customer of Honda, from a professional to even a housewife to experience Honda’s trusted quality service. This would help us further strengthen the trust of our customer in Honda.”
With this initiative, Honda will be able to penetrate these remote markets which have been dominated by its arch rival Hero MotoCorp. Apart from improving sales, this initiative will also help Honda in terms of brand awareness in such areas.
