Update 16/3/17: Honda WR-V Launched At Rs 7.75 Lakh
Here's a quick low-down on the Honda WR-V. The crossover is based on the same platform as the Honda Jazz and shares the same 90PS 1.2-litre petrol and 100PS 1.5 litre diesel engines. There are quite a few differences though, as the WR-V attempts to look different with a raised 188mm of ground clearance and also gets added goodies like a sunroof and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Talking about the launch of the Honda WR-V, Mr Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “The WR-V is an all new Sporty Lifestyle Vehicle in Honda’s line-up. It will provide joy for recreational usage and comfortable driving for daily use in the city.” “Honda has started the year 2017 on a positive note. After a very successful launch of the New City 2017 in February, the WR-V launch is our second important launch this year. We are confident that both these models will propel Honda Cars India firmly on the growth path.”
The WR-V will be made available in only two variants - S and VX. Prices for the base-spec petrol is likely to start around the Rs 7.0 lakh mark and go all the way up to Rs 10 lakh for the top-spec diesel. That pricing will put it on par with the likes of the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Hyundai i20 Active. It will also face heat from proper sub 4-metre SUVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport - head here to see how the Honda stacks up against them on paper.
We've already driven the new WR-V, and will have a detailed first impression report up soon. Stay tuned to ZigWheels!
