Back in March 2020, Honda Cars India had revealed the refreshed WR-V, which featured a cosmetic update and BS6-compliant engine options, but its launch had to be deferred due to the nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus. Now, the facelifted WR-V has started reaching dealerships and we have got our hands on some detailed shots of the actual vehicle.
The facelifted WR-V will be offered in two trims -- SV and VX -- and will feature BS6 diesel and petrol engine options. Dealership sources have hinted that the top-spec model is likely to cost Rs 13.5 lakh (on-road). Meanwhile, bookings have already commenced for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
Majority of the design updates on the facelifted WR-V are at the front. The redesigned grille and the new LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs give it an air of freshness and also add to its road presence. Diesel variants benefit from a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels while petrol variants will have to make do with the older design. New LED tail lamps are the only change at the rear.
Apart from the redesigned interior upholstery, the facelifted WR-V’s cabin remains pretty much identical to the pre-facelifted model. In terms of features, the facelifted WR-V comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, climate control, cruise control, a sunroof, keyless entry with push button start, and a multi-info display. On the safety front, it comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
The facelifted WR-V continues to utilise the existing 90PS 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 100PS 1.5-litre diesel motor, both of which have been upgraded to meet the BS6 emission norms. Just like before, the petrol engine is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission while the diesel engine continues to use a 6-speed manual unit.
The facelifted WR-V is expected to be launched in the coming days. It will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and the Hyundai Venue. The outgoing model was priced from Rs 8.08 lakh to Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom). With the facelift, the prices of the petrol WR-V are expected to go up by around Rs 15,000, while the diesel WR-V is likely to get dearer by around Rs 50,000. Does this updated WR-V appeal to you?
