Honda Siel Cars India Ltd, leading manufacturer of premium cars in India reported sales of 4,685 units in the month of July’10 as against 4,595 units sold in June’10 translating into a growth of 2%. The company had sold 4,857 units in the corresponding month last year.
Leading the car sales by a significantly large margin is Honda’s premium mid-sized sedan, the Honda City, which incidentally was rewarded the top prize in a recently conducted vehicle dependability study conducted by JD Power Asia Pacific. Honda’s power packed hatchback, the Jazz is though next on the chart, is far behind its cousin having sold a mere 514 units in the month of July.
The elegant looking Honda Civic isn’t far behind the Jazz with 371 units to its name, leaving Honda’s premium mid-sized salon the Honda Accord and its SUV offering the CRV securing the final two positions. With Honda Siel Cars India looking to expand its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, can look forward to the new and enhanced Power Train facility assisting the company in controlling costs in future, and creating increasing indigenization levels, especially for the Honda New Small Car taking the localization to more than 80 per cent.
