Hyundai’s three-row SUV, the Alcazar, is launching tomorrow. While it is essentially a Creta with an extra row of seats, there are a few distinguishing elements.

Here are five things you should know about the Alcazar ahead of its June 18 launch:

A Bigger Fort

The Alcazar (Spanish for ‘fort’) is pretty much a Creta-derivative. However, its chrome-studded grille, redesigned bumper, and distinct fog light/indicator housing set it apart from its smaller sibling. You can see the longer rear overhang and the extra 150mm of length to accommodate the third row. There’s also that extra rear quarter glass, an upright boot, and bigger 18-inch alloy wheels, things that the Creta misses out on.

How Different Is It Inside?

While the interior layout and dashboard is similar to the Creta, the Alcazar gets its own black-brown colour scheme. The most obvious difference is the extra row of seats. The middle row comes either as a 6-seater with captain seats or a 7-seater with a bench.

More Features

Much like the Creta, the Alcazar is one feature-heavy offering. The ones that it shares with the former include the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, auto climate control, cruise control, Bose sound system, and panoramic sunroof. Passenger safety will be taken care of by multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, blind spot monitoring, and electronic stability control. The Alcazar will also get a fully digital driver’s display, a first for its segment.

Rivals And Expected Prices

The Alcazar will rival the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the Mahindra XUV700. While official prices will be revealed tomorrow, we expect it to be priced from Rs 13 lakh onwards.
