The Creta facelift is expected to launch in India early in 2018

Hyundai has showcased the 2018 Creta facelift at the Chengdu Auto Fair. Also known as the IX25, the Creta facelift gets a few updates over the current one along with an evolved front and rear.

To start with, the hexagonal grille is wider and kisses the headlamp clusters on either side, but the outline hasn't yet taken the cascading cues seen in the latest Hyundai cars. Along with the evolved grille, the restyled bumper also houses horizontal fog lights and LED daytime running lights. The headlamps retain their projector beams, but the light source behind the convex lens is still halogen and not HID or LED.

Around the back, the tail lamp cluster gets a much-needed update in the form of LEDs replacing the halogens. The taillights of the current Creta look awfully out of place on a car that costs well over Rs 15 lakh on-road. Look around and you'll notice that the king of stylish alloy wheel designs has blessed the demo car with a fresh set of fancy wheels.

Inside, the silver accents on the AC vents are replaced with colour-coded pieces matching the exterior shade. The driver seat of the showpiece also offered 6-way electric adjustment. Glance upwards and you'll notice the electric sunroof, which has sort of become a norm in this price range. Buttons to manage the cruise control are also visible on the steering. The design pattern on the front seats looks like it's neatly hiding the perforations for ventilation. The Creta might also borrow the feature from the recently launched Verna.

When questioned about the Creta facelift at the sidelines of the new Verna launch, Hyundai India MD, Y K Koo, declined to give us a concrete timeframe. That said, he did confirm that Hyundai usually maintains a 3-year gap between product updates. Considering the Creta was introduced back in 2015, we could see the refreshed avatar as early as next year.
