The Kona Electric was launched in July 2019 with a 3-year/unlimited km warranty.
The Wonder Warranty option allows buyers to choose a warranty based on their usage.
Buyers can now choose from three Wonder Warranty options for the Kona Electric SUV.
It is powered by a 39.2kWh battery pack and offers an ARAI-claimed range of 452 km.
India’s first long-range all-electric SUV, the Hyundai Konda Electric, is now available with variable warranty options called ‘Wonder Warranty’. There are three options to choose from and new as well as existing owners of the Kona Electric can opt for them at no additional cost. This is the first time the EV gets the option of extended warranty upto 5 years. Until now, the Kona Electric was available with a 3-year/unlimited km car warranty and 8-Year/1,60,000km battery warranty.
The Wonder Warranty options include:
3Yr/Unlimited km
4Yr/60,000km
5Yr/50,000km
These options are complementary and depend on the customer’s preferences. The 8-year/1,60,000km warranty on the battery remains unaffected. The extended warranty will come in handy for buyers who don’t plan on using their EV extensively.
In India, the Kona Electric comes with a 39.2kWh battery pack that offers an ARAI-claimed range of 452km. The battery produces 136PS of power and 395Nm of torque. With a 7.2kWh charger, the Kona takes 6 hours and 10 minutes to recharge from zero to 80 percent. A 50kW fast charger does the same in just sixty minutes.
The Kona Electric is one of three long-range EVs available in India. Here’s how the Kona Electric’s warranty options compare against the MG ZS EV and the Tata Nexon EV:
Make |
Car Warranty |
Battery Warranty |
MG ZS EV |
5-Year/Unlimited |
8-Year/1,50,000 km |
Tata Nexon EV |
3-Year/1,25,000 km |
8-Year/1,60,000 km |
The MG ZS EV comes out on top with the best warranty plan along with 5 years of roadside assistance.
Launched in July 2019, the Hyundai Kona Electric is priced from Rs 23.75 lakh to Rs 23.94 lakh. It competes squarely against the MG ZS EV in terms of price. But if you’re looking for a more affordable EV, you could consider the Tata Nexon EV, which is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 15.99 lakh. The MG ZS EV has a claimed range of 340km while the Nexon EV offers 312km per charge.
