With Auto Expo 2020 just a few days away, Hyundai has revealed more details about the next-gen Creta SUV ahead of its unveil. This time, the carmaker has released official design sketches as well as a teaser video of the SUV. While we already know what it could look like thanks to its Chinese counterpart, the iX25 being launched in China, let’s have a closer look at the design sketches.
On the outside, the Creta sketch looks similar to the ix25, with design highlights like the large grille, split-headlamp setup and LED DRLs like the Venue. The design sketch also features the split tail lamp setup, flared wheel arches and new tailgate. The only differentiating factor in the presence of radical and massive turbine shaped wheels. Don’t expect that sort of design in reality. Speaking of reality, the India-spec 2020 Creta is expected to look near identical to its Chinese counterpart.
On the inside, it could feature a black-beige dual-tone dashboard, a horizontal 10.25-inch split touchscreen as well as a four-spoke steering wheel, among other tweaks. Other expected features include and air purifier, semi-digital instrument cluster, BlueLink connected tech, a panoramic sunroof with 90 per cent coverage as well as wireless charging. Safety equipment could consist of 6 airbags, ABS+EBD, stability, traction control and more.
Under the hood, it will be powered by BS6-compliant 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engines from the Kia Seltos. In the Seltos, the 1.5-litre petrol mill delivers 115PS/144Nm, whereas the 1.5-litre diesel mill produces 115PS/250Nm. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit puts out 140PS/242Nm. Both 1.5-litre engines are expected to be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. However, the petrol variant could get a CVT option, whereas the diesel variant could receive a 6-speed torque converter like the Seltos. A DCT transmission with paddle shifts is likely to be the gearbox option for the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol.
Post its unveil, expect Hyundai to launch the 2020 Creta shortly after the expo. It is also likely to be priced at a premium over its predecessor with prices ranging from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and Mahindra XUV500 post its launch in India.
