With two new eye-catching entrants having now taken their rightful place in Hyundai’s wide portfolio of four-wheeler offerings in India, the Korean car maker has once again tapped the right nerves in gaining a solid sales momentum is the country’s fiercely competitive automotive market.
Recording a 10.9% jump in its domestic sales, Hyundai sold as many as 35,000 cars in the month of November alone. The company’s export figures have also moved up to 22,080 units as against just 13,000 units that it managed to have shipped out in the corresponding month last year.
Commenting on the November 2011 sales, Arvind Saxena, Director Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “In a challenging market we have been able to grow volumes and market share on the strength of our new launches - Verna and Eon. Our immediate outlook on the market is not too bright as interest rates and fuel prices are unlikely to soften in the forseeable future.”
Despite unfavourable market conditions, Hyundai’s A2 segment offerings, that comprise of the dashing new Eon (Read : First Drive) small car, its age old best-seller the Santro, along with its popular i10 and i20 models have majorly contributed to the company’s impressive run all through November, with more than two-third of the company’s aggregate sales coming from its small car infantry alone.
Its flagship sedan model, the Hyundai Accent along with the freshly sculpted ‘fluidic’ Verna (Read : First Drive) design continue drive healthy sales volumes, however its full-loaded Santa Fe SUV model along with its executive sedan offering the Sonata Transform have barely managed to dent the popularity of their worthwhile competitors.
