This week’s news was mainly dominated by SUVs. Hyundai is considering a mild-hybrid variant for the Venue, while the Kia SP2i was spotted sans camo outside India. Talking about spy shots, the XUV300 Diesel AMT was also spotted this week and Skoda has confirmed that its midsize SUV Karoq will make its way here. Last but not the least, Volkswagen launched another special edition for the Polo, Ameo and Vento this week.
Hyundai Considering Mild-hybrid Tech For Venue Turbo:
Korean giant Hyundai is claiming that the Venue turbo’s fuel efficiency stands at 18.15kmpl for the 6-speed manual and 18.27kmpl for the 7-speed DCT automatic. But looks like that ain't enough for the carmaker. Considering the upcoming emission norms and electric mobility scenario, the carmaker is planning to equip the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor with mild-hybrid tech. What’s more, the mild-hybrid turbocharged motor might not be limited to the Venue. Head here for more details.
Kia SP2i Spotted Sans Camo; It’s Got A Name:
We have got some good news for you if you have been following the Kia SP2i. The compact SUV has been spied sans camo for the first time outside India. And you would be glad to know it retains plenty of its design elements from the SP concept that was revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The international variant has got a name too. Nope it’s not the Trailster or Tusker which is reserved for the Indian market. Click here to know what it’s called outside India.

the automobile community
Yes, you read that right. Mahindra's sub-4 metre SUV, the XUV300 has been spied with an automatic transmission in the W6 diesel variant. The automatic transmission will make the XUV300 a complete package. The auto 'box is not limited to diesel only and will be available on the petrol powered SUV as well. The W8 (O) variant has also been spied earlier with the two-pedal set-up and this hints that the automatic transmission will be available in different trim levels. Head here for details.
Skoda Karoq Gets The Green Flag For India:
Skoda’s upcoming SUV, the Karoq is headed to our shores by mid 2020. Positioned below the brand’s flagship SUV, the Kodiaq, the carmaker is planning to bring the Karoq through the CBU route which allows carmakers to import up to 2500 units without homologation. Based on the MQB platform, the Karoq is expected to feature the 2.0-litre TDI motor seen on other VW group cars. Head here to know about the upcoming Jeep Compass rival.
VW launches Cup Edition Cars:
In a bid to ride the 2019 ICC World Cup wave, Volkswagen India has launched special edition variants of the Polo, Vento and Ameo. Christened as the Cup Edition, this variant is based on the Comfortline petrol variant. The Cup Edition mainly gets cosmetic updates which include new alloy wheels, seat covers and more.
