The 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has been showcased at the 2018 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. The latest iteration of the supersport retains the overall silhouette of its predecessor but gets plenty of changes to qualify as a substantial update. You now get a new front fairing, a revised tail piece, new LED headlamps, new windscreen and a new exhaust. You also get an updated instrument console, which also gets a fuel gauge, fuel range and eco indicator. When launched in India, the Ninja ZX-6R will be offered in Racing Green/Ebony paint scheme with the KRT (Kawasaki Racing Team) livery and in Black.
The track-spec bike gets a shorter seat with a narrow front profile, which should help shorter riders place both feet on the ground easily. The updates on the track-spec bike include new heel guards and an adjustable front brake lever.
The 636cc, 4-cylinder in-line motor remains largely unchanged except for updates to help it pass Euro V emission norms. This has resulted in slight drop in power over its predecessor. The 2019 ZX-6R churns out 129.7PS at 13,500rpm, which is a drop of 1.3PS over the outgoing model. However, the 6-speed gearbox gets a quickshifter, which should help in improved roll-on figures. As far as electronic rider aids are concerned, the new bike gets traction control.
Its perimeter frame chassis comes with 41mm front Showa SFF-BP forks and a rear monoshock. Braking is via dual 310mm petal discs at the front and a 210mm rear disc, with dual channel ABS offered as standard. A big update is the addition of new Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres instead of the S20s seen on the previous ZX-6R.
The one showcased at EICMA will be coming to India next year via the CKD route. Kawasaki has already started accepting bookings for the supersport bike. It is likely to be priced slightly above the Rs 10 lakh mark.
