Leaked scale model images show some interesting bits in Citroen’s first localised product for India

Looks like the India-bound Citroen C3 subcompact SUV’s global debut is imminent, as leaked scale model images have surfaced online, revealing design details of its first localised product ahead of its expected launch around Diwali 2021. Here are five peculiar things we’ve noticed about it:

Chic French Flair!

At a glance, you’d think this is a mini C5 Aircross, as the C3 retains a lot of its larger sibling’s French flair, with a floating roof and an upright stance. That said, the C3’s bonnet is sharper than that of the C5 Aircross.

Eye Candy Up Front

Sure, the C3’s front end is wide with a split grille setup, like a traditional Citroen model, but it seems to be inspired by the more recent C4 and C5 X. Basically, the grille splits the DRLs and the headlamps in a V shape.

Hear over to the sides and the alloy wheels, likely 16-inch units, may seem a bit similar to the C5 Aircross, but they get a sharper five-spoke design.

Airbumps

A closer look at the sides and you’ll notice a quirky little bit called an airbump. In simple terms, it is sort of like a bubble wrap. It isn’t purely aesthetic though, in fact, it can offer protection against door-to-door contact.

Splash Of Colour

The scale model sports plenty of colour thanks to its dual-tone nature, giving it a nice bit of contrast. It gets a splash of orange on the airbumps, fog lamp housing, the roof as well as the ORVMs. That’s complemented by blacked-out cladding all over and chrome accents on the front and rear bumper.

We expect the C3 to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, with manual and automatic transmission options. That said, this may not be the final design, and it could even get a different name for India.

Citroen could price the C3 competitively, starting from Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). It will have a lot of competition in the sub-4 metre SUV segment against the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, and Hyundai Venue
