While we were waiting with eager anticipation for Honda to launch its mid-capacity ADV in India, its pricing came as a shocker. At Rs 6.87 lakh, it’s just Rs 7,000 more affordable than the Kawasaki Versys 650, a much superior and capable motorcycle. We’ve got the opportunity to ride the new Honda CB500X today in Delhi so let’s take a closer look at the India-spec bike:
With a raked fascia, beaky nose and tall windscreen, the CB500X’s styling can be termed sharp. Moreover, the 19-inch wheel gives it an imposing stance.
The LED headlight is a nice modern touch but how it performs is something we’ll find out in our road test review.
The compact triangle-shaped LED tail lamp complements the petite tail section.
The indicators are also LED units, resembling the ones on the CB350RS.
It gets a large LCD all-digital instrument console which should be easy to read on the move.
Its switchgear is similar to the Honda CBR650R, with the quality of the switches among the best in the business.
The windscreen can be manually adjusted.
The adjustable lever is a nice and useful touch.
It’s powered by a 471cc parallel-twin motor rated at 47.5PS and 43Nm.
The Honda ADV sports a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
It gets an adjustable telescopic fork with 150mm of travel.
The monoshock suspension is preload adjustable and offers 13mm of travel.
It features a wide 160/50-17 rear tyre.
It gets a generous 17.7-litre fuel tank.
The bike has a ground clearance of 181mm and weighs 199kg.
