We all need a routine to follow even though we are all stuck at home and Indian motorsport athletes are no different. India's first Arjuna Awardee for motorsport tells us how he has been spending his time while staying at home.

In a normal world, Gaurav Gill would have been trying to reclaim his FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) title that he lost in a problematic 2019 season along with competing in the WRC-2 class of the FIA World Rally Championship.

But these aren't normal times are they?

Six-time INRC champ's best laid plans have been put on hold, as is the case for the rest of the world as it tries to come out of the grips of the coronavirus pandemic.

The saying goes - failure to prepare means preparing to fail. Gill definitely is no fan of failure, so he is preparing to be fighting fit when the time comes to throw up some dirt again.

Here is his daily routine in his own words:

  • Generally I’m up by 8am and get to sit with my son and assist him for his online class from 9:30 untill 1:30pm.

  • After that we all have lunch and then we do some homework. Or we play some video games and prepare for our evening workout or soccer practice at home with whatever space we have.

  • We then have dinner and I watch a movie with my wife & mom to get into bed at around 11:30pm.

  • I also enjoy washing my cars 2-3 times a week. That takes up 4-5 hrs considering I polish all panels and wheels / tyres. I love to keep my cars clean at all times.

  • I also spend 2-3 hrs playing and working out with kids 3-4 times a week.

  • We either choose to do TRX training or body weight exercises depending on the day of the week and the activity we’ve done through the day.
  • If we have washed the cars then we keep the workout light otherwise it’s flat out all the way.

Well, there you go. This is life for the former three-time FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship title winner (2013, 2016 and 2017). Let's all try and get a little structure in our lives too shall we? Neither good times or bad times are permanent so remember that this too shall pass.

Let's all prepare to hit the ground running just like India's rally superstar is planning on doing.
