Isuzu has initiated a recall for its D-Max V-Cross pickup truck in India to fix the jerking issues reported by many customers across India. The Japanese automaker confirmed that the identified issue was fixed by installing a software upgrade for the engine control unit (ECU).
When contacted, a spokesperson from Isuzu commented, “We had received feedback from some D-MAX V-Cross customers who were experiencing engine vibrations at some RPM levels. This was checked internally and the issue has been resolved by remapping the ECU. The process is simple and takes approximately 30 minutes and has resulted in much better performance of the engine. The same has been extended to other customers who have not reported the issue.”
While Isuzu is offering to remap the D-Max V-Cross for all its customers, we assume that the new cars which roll out of the factory floor will, by default, have the updated software on their ECUs. We recommend that if you own one, you must contact the closest service center and get an appointment for the required fix.
The big pickup was showcased during the 2016 Auto Expo and was put on sale by Isuzu in May earlier this year. It is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel mill, which is tuned to produce 136PS of power and 320Nm of torque. It is available in only one trim level in India, which also features a 4x4 drivetrain. The pickup is priced at Rs 12.80 lakh. That puts it above the its arch rivals, with Tata Xenon XT priced between Rs 9.96 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh and Mahindra Scorpio Getaway priced between Rs 8.94 lakh and Rs 9.93 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
