Jaguar has given a big mechanical update to the MY2018 XE sedan, XF sedan and F-Pace SUV - a new 4-cylinder petrol motor. While it may be small it terms of displacement, it has as much oomph as a supercharged V6!
The addition of the new 2.0-litre petrol Ingenium motor to the aforementioned cars is another step in the company's goal to phase out older engines used across its model lines. The 2.0-litre Ingenium motor is no slouch though. It develops 300PS of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque and was first seen on the base Jaguar F-Type. The motor is also very efficient and has lower emissions than bigger engines with similar performance figures. For now, the new engine is only available in the XE, XF and F-Pace sold in the UK and there is no confirmation on if and when it will be offered in India.

In the entry-level sedan, the Jaguar XE, the new motor paired to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission gives it a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 5.5-seconds while also delivering a claimed mileage of 14.69kmpl (in the UK). The heavier XF with the same setup achieved 0-100kmph in 5.6 seconds and has a mileage of 14.16kmpl. Jaguar's only SUV, the F-Pace, achieves 0-100kmph in 6.0 seconds and returns 13.09kmpl.
Jaguar has also added new features to the 2018 XE and XF sedans, including a 'gesture' boot lid (wave your foot under the boot to open it, if your hands are full) and 'configurable dynamics' technology (selectable modes for the engine, transmission, steering and suspension). Safety systems including 'forward vehicle guidance' (an overlay on the centre screen that allows for low-speed manoeuvring through tight spots and 'forward traffic detection'.
Currently, the Jaguar XE gets the Ingenium petrol motor in 200PS and 241PS power trims in India. Meanwhile, the XF is offered with the Ingenium petrol motor developing 241PS of maximum power. The Jaguar F-Pace is only offered with diesel engines in India.
