The I-Pace’s design starts off with a positive first impression. It has all the trademark design elements of a Jag and looks quite familiar when viewed head-on. But the sleek profile with sharp creases and the sloping roofline is our favourite bit. The 19-inch alloy wheels also fill up the arches nicely and add to the sporty stance. Sharply styled LED tail lamps and the wide haunches gives it a mean look at the rear.
The cabin looks more minimalist in comparison to the sharply styled exterior. The highlight is Jaguar’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system which comprises a 10-inch infotainment screen for the infotainment and 5-inch screen for climate control. Other highlights in this driver-centric cabin include a chunky 3-spoke steering wheel and digital driver’s display.

Features include connected car tech, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 16-way adjustable front seats with heater and ventilation, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, adaptive cruise control, and a head-up display. Safety is covered by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and electronic stability control.
Four-zone climate control, air suspension, and sports seats with bolstering can be added as optional equipment. One can spruce up the design by opting for either the black pack or the carbon fibre pack which comes with their respective design touches.
Propelling the I-Pace are a pair of electric motors developing 400PS of power and 696Nm of torque. It drives all four wheels and is capable of achieving 0-100kmph in a mere 4.8 seconds. The electric motors draw power from a 90kWh battery pack, helping it cover 470km on a single charge in the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle.
The battery pack supports fast charging and can be juiced up from 0-80 percent in just 45 minutes. Thanks to Jaguar’s tie up with Tata Power, one can charge the I-Pace across Tata’s expansive 200 plus charging stations across 23 cities. Tata Power will also provide the I-Pace’s 7.4kWh home charger.
The I-Pace will be exclusively sold in 22 sales outlets across 19 cities that Jaguar says are EV-ready. These outlets will also be equipped with a fast charger. Jaguar has also thrown in some tempting complementary benefits for its I-Pace customers. These include:
A five-year service package.
Five years of road side assistance.
Eight years or 1,60,000km warranty on the battery pack.
The I-Pace locks horns with the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the upcoming Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback.
