Riding on the high of launching the Yamaha R3 in India which is the highest displacement bike to be assembled by the Japanese two-wheeler in India, Yamaha officials made another interesting announcement. Speaking to ZigWheels, Roy Kurien, VP, sales & marketing of Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd said that MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo will visit India in November. Further details regarding Lorenzo’s India visit will be shared later.
Although Yamaha officials didn’t wish to comment further we have a feeling that the MotoGP rider will be in India to launch the updated version of the Yamaha R15. The Yamaha R15 will just receive a facelift and will not be an all-new product to cash in on the festive season. Expect the Yamaha R15 to get cosmetic updates and given the fact that Lorenzo will unveil the bike a Yamaha MotoGP livery can’t be ruled out to rival the Repsol edition bikes of Honda. Even during the Yamaha R3 launch, the manufacturer boasted about its racing credentials and the fact that it leads the riders and constructors championship in the current 2015 season. With youngsters showing an ever growing interest in MotoGP getting Lorenzo down for an unveil looks like a good move by Yamaha. Lorenzo has been associated with the Yamaha MotoGP team from 2008 and in his eight year journey in the premier class he has won two world championship titles. Currently the Spanish rider is second in the riders standing behind team-mate Valentino Rossi.
