Kawasaki recently rolled out the BS6 updated version of its retro twin, the W800. While most BS6 updates have been accompanied by a price hike, Kawasaki gave us a pleasant surprise with a massive Rs 1 lakh price cut on the W800, meaning that it now costs Rs 6.99 lakh. But if you still aren’t a fan, here’s everything else you can get for the same price:
Harley-Davidson Street Rod
If the reserved Japanese approach to twin-cylinder middleweights doesn’t quite get your motor running, why not check out the loud, brash American approach. For Rs 44,000 less than the W800, you can pick up a Harley-Davidson Street Rod powered by the shouty 749cc Revolution X motor. Did we mention that it’s BS6-compliant too?
Triumph Street Twin
While the W was previously more expensive than its closest competitor, the Triumph Street Twin, it now manages to undercut the Brit by Rs 46,000. Nevertheless, that extra cash you pay for the Triumph still buys you some extra cubes, more output, and a better built, more sophisticated and feature-rich motorcycle.
Kawasaki Ninja 650 BS6
The W800 isn’t the brand’s only recent BS6 launched. It also rolled out the very popular Ninja 650 in BS6 form just last week. The bike has received a comprehensive styling update as well as new features like a fully-digital dash with Bluetooth connectivity. All this can be added to your garage for just Rs 6.24 lakh.
Suzuki V-Strom 650XT
Perhaps you want your adventures to continue even when the road ends, and for that, you can pick up a Suzuki V-Strom 650XT. With a 19-inch/17-inch wire-spoke wheel combo, long-travel suspension and loads of ground clearance, this baby can take the rough stuff in its stride. Interested? The BS4 bike was priced at Rs 7.46 lakh and the BS6 bike will be here very soon with possibly a minor price hike.
SWM Superdual T
If that sounds like a little more money than you’re looking to spend right now, a more affordable off-road alternative is the SWM Superdual T. Powered by a great big 600cc single-cylinder mill, the bike manages a decent 54PS and 55Nm and has all the necessary hardware to keep going even when the road disappears. All yours for just Rs 6.50 lakh in BS4 form.
