Japanese bike manufacturer Kawasaki has launched the all-new Z900 in Indonesia at IDR 225 million (approximately Rs 11.27 lakh). The bike has replaced the Z800 in the Indonesian market and will do the same in India in the approaching months. The Z800, currently available at around Rs 8.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) in India is known for its nippy handling and aggressive looks.
As far as the Z900 is concerned, the super naked machine is expected to prove as a worthy successor to the Z800. Reason being, the new 948cc inline-four cylinder motor, which is derived from its elder sibling, the Z1000. The liquid-cooled motor is good for 126PS of power and 98Nm of torque, and is bolted to a lightweight trellis frame chassis of added stiffness. The bike features a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch for smoother downshifts. All of this is packaged in a tight looking streetfighter, which is also 21kg lighter than the Z800! You know where this is going. Absolutely bananas!
The bike features 300mm dual front disc with Nissin four-piston callipers, whereas the rear wheel is mounted with a 250mm single rotor mono-piston calliper. The beefy front and rear tyres are suspended via 41mm front forks and a rear mono shock with adjustable damping, respectively. To add to the versatility of the bike, buyers can also opt for touring accessories like 14-litre panniers for either side and a 30-litre top box.
Speaking of its expected price tag for India, it may fall in the close vicinity of the Rs 10 lakh mark (ex-showroom). When launched, the Z900 will take on the likes of Triumph Bonneville T100, the Ducati Monster 821 and the Yamaha MT-09.
