Kia Motors will kickstart it's Auto Expo 2020 plans with the launch of the Carnival MPV in India tomorrow. A luxury people mover, the Carnival will be offered in three variants -- Premium, Prestige, and Limousine. You can have the Carnival with 7, 8, or 9 seats depending on the variant you pick. Once launched, the Kia Carnival will rival the Toyota Innova Crysta. We expect is to be priced from around Rs 27 lakh (on-road).
The exterior of the Kia MPV exhibits a proportionate and luxurious aesthetic. At the front, a large, chrome-covered tiger-nose grille occupies the centre. Chrome elements are placed around the ‘ice cube’ fog lamps and the bumper lip is finished in silver. View it in profile and it is easy to see that all passengers get large windows courtesy of the straight shoulder line. The rear fascia features large tail lamps and chrome garnish on the tailgate.
Before you even get into the car, the first thing you notice is the electric sliding doors. The Carnival is cavernous and gets a dual-pane panoramic sunroof in the top-spec Limousine variant. You can either have three or four rows of seating for passengers.

Features include an 8-inch infotainment system, an 8-speaker Harman audio system, and three-zone climate control. Rear passengers get their own 10.1-inch entertainment screens. A number of connected car features will be offered on higher trim levels. On the safety front, Kia provides six airbags, ABS, and EBD. To get a full description of all Carnival variants, head here.
Under the bonnet, a BS6 2.2-litre diesel engine will be the only powerplant on offer. It makes 200PS of power and 440Nm of torque. This motor will be paired with an 8-speed automatic as standard.
The Carnival will be Kia’s flagship model in India for some time. It is a large family runabout and will be priced at a premium compared to the Toyota Innova Crysta. But could the Carnival dethrone India’s favourite MPV? Find that out in our detailed comparison here.
