The model showcased at Auto Expo 2020 had radical exterior changes including aggressive bumpers, skid plates, blacked-out alloy wheels, and orange accents.
The cabin is identical to the standard model, but could get different upholstery.
Powered by a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine like the standard Seltos.
Expect it to be priced at a premium over the standard model’s 1.4-litre turbo-petrol variants.
Kia India has just teased what it calls ‘Project X’ and we think it’s the rugged Kia Seltos X-Line SUV concept becoming a reality.
The teaser image doesn’t reveal much, but it seems to look similar to the model that was showcased in India at Auto Expo 2020. The X-Line concept essentially brings aggressive cosmetics, starting with a beefy front end, skid plates, blacked-out alloy wheels, and body cladding that extends all the way towards the rear. Other design changes include a sportier rear bumper and orange accents on both the front and rear bumpers as well as the roof rails.
While we didn’t get a look inside the Seltos X-Line, Kia claims it’ll have all the bells and whistles from the standard model as well as possibly different upholstery trims. Notable bits include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, UVO connected car tech, a head-up display, sunroof, wireless phone charging, and remote engine start/stop.
Under the hood, the Seltos X-Line retains the standard model’s 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine making 140PS and 250Nm. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.
Kia is likely to debut the Project X (possibly the Seltos X-Line) soon. Expect a premium over the standard Seltos 1.4-litre turbo-petrol variants that retail from Rs 15.35 lakh to Rs 17.44 lakh (ex-showroom India). The standard Seltos rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming VW Taigun.
