Kia Seltos Bookings To Commence from Mid-July

• Kia will have 265 touchpoints across 160 cities in India.
• The Seltos will be offered with two petrol and one diesel BS6-compliant engines.
• 4 transmission options on offer:  6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, CVT and 7-speed DCT.
• The 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol will only come paired with the 7-speed DCT.

Kia has unveiled the long-awaited premium compact SUV called the Seltos. The SUV comes with all the bells and whistles along with a vast range of engine and transmission options. Despite Kia claiming that the Seltos will be launched soon, we now know that the carmaker will start accepting bookings for the SUV from mid-July.  

The SUV will also reach dealerships around the same time for customers to see it in the flesh. This also hints that Kia’s first dealerships will be fully functional around that time. The official launch, though, is speculated to happen by the end of August. 

Powering the Seltos will be three BS6 engines coupled with four transmission options. The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines are expected to make around 115 PS while the 1.4-litre Turbo GDI unit is expected to push out around 140PS and 242Nm. As for the transmission options, there will be a 6-speed manual and the choice of three automatic options. The 7-speed DCT can only be had with the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol while the 1.5-litre can be opted with the 6-speed manual or the 6-speed torque converter. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre petrol motor is paired with the 6-speed manual and the CVT.

In terms of features, it comes with a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and other impressive features like head-up display, 360-degree camera with blind view monitor, sound mood lighting, ventilated seats, powered driver’s seat, front and rear parking sensors, sunroof, air purifier, automatic climate control and more. The SUV will also come with a host of connected features called UVO Connect, which was previously seen on the Hyundai Venue. Also offered will be a premium Bose sound system, a novelty in this segment.

When launched, the Seltos will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector as well as the Tata Harrier. Expect it to be priced from Rs 10 lakh to 16 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
