The Seltos has kickstarted Kia’s Indian innings with a bang. It looks to change the game in its segment with its premium features and plethora of powertrain options. And to top things up, the Korean giant has priced it attractively from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This has indeed reflected in its August 2019 sales numbers which are substantially more than several brand’s total sales figures combined.
Reportedly, Kia has sold 6,200 units of the Seltos during the month of August. In comparison, the Seltos’ closest competitor, the MG Hector, has found 2,018 takers (retail sales). The Seltos’ sales figures is also more than the total sales of Ford and Volkswagen, who sold 5,517 units and 2,300 units respectively during the same time period.
Despite the two month waiting period the Seltos commands, Kia had mentioned that it will continue to accept bookings for the compact SUV. It is also looking to expand production at its Anantapur facility to cater to the demand and will soon start operating in two shifts.

Kia is also taking customer feedback quite seriously. The carmaker will soon launch the turbo-petrol DCT and diesel-AT combo in the top-spec GT X Plus trim. Expected to be priced at Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), the new top-spec variant is expected to launch by mid September.
The Seltos is the only SUV in its segment to come with a plethora of powertrain options. You get a choice of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines and a sportier 1.4-litre T-GDI petrol unit. All the engines are BS6-compliant as well and come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Each of them come with a different automatic gearbox though.
