Kia India is all set to launch the Seltos on August 22 and the compact SUV has started reaching dealerships. While we got to see the top-spec version during our first drive review, we now have pictures of the more affordable mid-spec HT K Plus variant. This variant sits bang in the middle of the HT Line trim.
Outside, the Seltos HT K Plus looks similar to the top-spec HT X Plus trim, albeit with some key differences. For starters, you get DRLs in this variants but not the elongated ones as seen in the top-spec HT X Plus. The headlamps are projector units here and sit in the bottom section, as opposed to the LEDs in the top trim. Even the ‘icecube’ LED fog lamps have been replaced by a sole projector unit. At the side, the HT K Plus variant gets 5-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels finished in a gunmetal shade.
Inside, the Seltos HT K Plus comes with a smaller 8-inch infotainment system with physical buttons. In comparison, the top-spec variant comes with a 10.25-inch unit with touch controls. The climate control buttons and display have given way to manual knobs with piano black trim. The steering wheel is a regular round unit while the multi-info display is a smaller dot matrix unit.
Also, the leatherette upholstery and trim on the dashboard has been replaced by fabric and textured plastic trim respectively.
In terms of features, the Seltos HT K Plus trim comes with a decent amount of kit like an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-info driver’s display, manual AC, steering-mounted audio controls, rear defogger, cruise control, push button start, keyless entry, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, and fog lamps.
Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder, high speed alert and rear parking sensors with camera.
Under the hood, the Seltos comes with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. Both the units are BS6-compliant. Have a look at the table to see the detailed specification of both the powertrains.

Apart from these, the Seltos also comes with a 1.4-litre T-GDI turbo petrol unit that can be had in the GT Line trim only. It develops 140PS of power and 242Nm of torque. Transmission options for this motor include a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT gearbox.
Prices for the Seltos are expected to begin from Rs 10 lakh and go up to Rs 16 lakh for the top-spec variant (ex-showroom India). When launched, the Seltos will rival the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Mahindra XUV500.
