Bookings for the Sonet began recently for a token amount of Rs 25,000.
It gets slightly better fuel efficiency than the Venue despite sharing the same powertrain options.
The Sonet will be available in a total of 6 variants and 11 colour options, including three dual-tone options.
It is expected to be priced from Rs 6.60 lakh to Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
It will launch around mid-September.
Kia had recently opened bookings for the Sonet for an amount of Rs 25,000. We can now expect test drives to begin in the first week of this month as the sub-4m starts filling up inventory at dealerships across the country.
Based on the Venue, the Sonet is gearing up to debut at the top of the segment. It gets better fuel efficiency and even some changes despite sharing its powertrain options with the Hyundai. The overload of features will also play a huge factor in the Sonet’s expected dominance over the sub-4m segment. Check out the features on-board each variant of the Sonet here.
In the turbo-petrol variant the Sonet will completely forego the option of the manual transmission seen in the Venue. It will also have a first-in-segment torque converter diesel automatic. Like the Seltos it will also be available in the GT Line and Tech Line trims. So what could all this mean as far as the prices for each variant are concerned? Here’s what we expect:

With the Sonet nearing its mid-September launch, the excitement for the sub-4m SUV is at an all time high. Expected to dominate the segment, the Sonet will face stiff competition from the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300 along with the upcoming Nissan Magnite, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Renault Kiger.
