During the Kia Sonet’s price unveiling, the carmaker has revealed prices for all variants apart from the top-spec GTX+ automatic variants. This could be to avoid the sticker shock of these top-spec variants. But now, Kia has confirmed to us that prices for both these variants will be revealed by this month's end.
We expect both the GTX+ Turbo-petrol DCT and Diesel-automatic variants to be priced at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most expensive variant in the Sonet’s lineup. But the relatively expensive price tag is justified by the fact that both powertrains come with a sophisticated automatic transmission.
The 120PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine comes coupled to a 7-speed DCT which will be sold alongside the 6-speed iMT clutchless manual. The diesel-AT variant, on the other hand, utilises the Seltos’ 115PS spec and comes paired to a 6-speed torque converter. In comparison, the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 come with an AMT only. The Sonet GTX+ also comes with an extra long feature list. Notable features include ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, UVO connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose sound system, a sunroof, and an air purifier. Safety features include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a rear view camera, electronic stability control and a tyre pressure monitor.
The Kia Sonet is currently priced between Rs 6.71 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The GTX+ automatic variants of the Sonet, when launched, will lock horns with the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser.
