The Kia Sonet will be offered with a wide range of powertrain options. Now, we have got our hands on the performance and fuel efficiency figures for each and every powertrain ahead of its mid-September launch.
First, The Specifications:
The Sonet will be offered with three engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The diesel engine will come in two states of tune depending on the transmission. Here are the detailed specifications:

The Sonet Turbo-petrol is the most powerful engine while the diesel automatic variant is the torquiest. It must be mentioned that the Sonet automatic variants utilises conventional transmissions unlike AMTs in some of the rivals.

The Sonet turbo-petrol DCT variant is the fastest, doing nought to 100kmph in 11.3 seconds while the least powerful naturally aspirated petrol variant is the slowest here.
Despite the power advantage, the Sonet diesel-automatic is just 0.5 seconds faster than its manual sibling.
The Sonet turbo-petrol iMT variant does 0-100kmph in 12.3 seconds which is respectable considering you don’t have to do the hard work of pressing the clutch.

Naturally, the Sonet diesel variants are the most fuel efficient here. But the manual variant is 5.1kmpl more fuel efficient than its automatic sibling.
Despite having more power on tap, the turbo-petrol variants are almost as fuel efficient as the naturally aspirated petrol engine.
