Taiwanese two-wheeler giant, Kymco, has just upgraded its scooter portfolio with a new offering - the People 200i ABS. The latest model replaces the 150cc variant, and it has been launched in Europe at EUR 3,340 (approx Rs 2.95 lakh, excluding taxes).
The People 200i ABS gets pretty slim bodywork, featuring LED lights all around, a tall windscreen at the front, and a rear-mounted top-box as well. Running on large 16-inch wheels, this scooter looks a lot like step-through bikes, which are quite popular in Southeast Asia.
Powering the scooter is a 163cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that makes 14.6PS and 13.5Nm. That’s 0.6PS and 1.5Nm more than the previous 150cc motor. Kymco claims that the People 200i ABS has a top speed of 105kmph and a fuel efficiency of 37 kmpl.
The company has equipped the People 200i ABS with a telescopic front fork and a pair of preload-adjustable rear springs. The braking setup comprises a 260mm front and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. Standard features include transparent hand guards and a USB charging socket.
Considering Indians yet haven’t warmed up to this style of scooters and that it is priced on the higher side (compared to other scooters here), it’s safe to say the Kymco People 200i ABS is unlikely to launch in the country.
