After dropping a teaser image, Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the Sián Roadster hybrid hypercar in the international market. As the name suggests, this Sián variant is the marquee’s most powerful open-top raging bull.
The main talking point of the Sián Roadster is, of course, it's design philosophy or more accurately the fact that it’s a topless raging bull. Aside from that, it retains the outlandish and poster-worthy exterior of the standard Sián with styling elements of previous Lamborghini models. Design highlights include a front end similar to the Gallardo with Y-shaped headlights like the Terzo Millennio concept car, large copper-coated alloy wheels, Countach-like six hexagonal taillamps, a large diffuser, and a large tailpipe design.
Aside from the new Blu Uranus body shade you’ll notice copper-like accents on various parts of the Sián Roadster such as the front splitter, side skirts as well as the diffuser. Another nifty design trait is the integration of material science used for active cooling. There are various temperature-sensitive vanes around the exhaust bay that open automatically for better cooling depending on the heat generated.
The Sián Roadster is just as premium as the standard model on the inside with bits like a vertically stacked digital touchscreen in the centre console and a digital instrument cluster. But instead of the orange-grey upholstery combo on the standard model, the roadster variant gets a white-grey upholstery combo with gold accents all around and Blu Uranus stitching on the seats.
Under the hood, it retains the same 6.5-litre V12 mill as the standard model to make it the most powerful open-top raging bull. It produces 785PS at 8500rpm with a 48v mild-hybrid system giving an additional 34PS of boost for a combined output of 819PS. All this gives the Sián Roadster a 0-100kmph sprint time of under 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 350kmph.
One of the highlights of the Sián’s 48v mild-hybrid system is that it uses supercapacitors instead of a lithium-ion battery. This helps in storing up to ten times more power while being three times lighter than a battery. A 7-speed automatic gearbox is used to send power to all four wheels with the mild-hybrid system providing short bursts of boost.
As rare as the standard Sián was, the Sián Roadster goes one step further. Only 19 units will be produced, all of which have already been sold out! Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet but we expect it to hover around the standard model’s sky-high $3.6 million (Rs 25 crore) price tag.
