MahindraTwo Wheelers was betting big on the Gusto scooter as it was its first indigenously developed scooter. Also, the fact that it was a 110cc scooter further hiked its expectations as it was only present in the 125cc segment of scooters until then. Despite the fact that the Mahindra Gusto was loaded with a unique list of features, the scooter hasn’t been well received by the consumers. To address this issue Mahindra has launched the new Gusto Hx variant priced at Rs 46,800 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Mahindra Gusto Hx is the third variant under the Gusto family after the base Dx and the fully-loaded Vx variant. In terms of pricing, the Mahindra Gusto Hx has been priced at a premium of Rs 2,000 over the base variant and is Rs 2,000 cheaper than the Mahindra Gusto Vx.
The Mahindra Gusto Hx loses out on features like find me laps and the remote flip key when compared to the Gusto Vx. But it gets equipped with the height adjustable seat as seen on the top-end variant. No changes have been made on the mechanical front though. The Mahindra Gusto Hx will be powered by the 110cc, single-cylinder motor which Mahindra calls M-TEC which churns out 8PS of peak power and 8.5Nm of maximum torque. Mahindra claims a fuel efficiency figure of 63kmpl for the Gusto. The Mahindra Gusto Hx will rival the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Alpha and Hero Maestro in the Indian scooter segment.
