The Bolero is one of the oldest selling vehicles by Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M). Since its introduction in the year 2000, Mahindra has sold no less than 9 lakh Boleros in the country. With applications in military and paramilitary forces for years, the SUV has undergone several changes with the changing time. Now, M&M has updated the variant range of the New Bolero with the launch of the ‘Power+’ variant with a more powerful engine. The new variant comes with a 1.5-litre mHAWKD70 engine that is claimed by the company to be 13 per cent more powerful and five per cent more fuel efficient than the current Bolero.
Talking about power figures, the current Bolero is powered by a 2.5-litre m2DiCR diesel motor that registers 63PS of max power and 195Nm of torque. Now, with the BS-IV compliant mHAWKD70 diesel mill, the Power+ variant of the new Bolero produces 71.3PS of max power and 195Nm of peak torque. The new variant also comes with fuel-saving Micro Hybrid technology for the top-spec model. With this system, when required, the engine automatically switches to standby mode thereby reducing fuel consumption.
Speaking on the occasion, Pravin Shah, president and chief executive (automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said: “The Bolero has been India’s No.1 SUV for 10 years in a row from 2005-06 to 2015-16 and the all New Bolero Power+ is an evolution of this powerful brand. In our endeavour to enhance the product value proposition, we have introduced the New Bolero Power+ with the mhawkD70 engine delivering more power, more mileage & a peppier drive. I am sure that the New Bolero Power+, with its overall better value proposition, will heighten its appeal not only amongst its core customers but also excite more buyers.”
On the feature front, the New Bolero Power+ variant comes with a digital instrument cluster, a Driver Information System (DIS) and a voice messaging system. It also comes with an engine immobiliser thus strengthening the safety of the vehicle. The SUV features the same 7-seater configuration but with better cushioning to support the body contours.
While the New Bolero Power+ does not receive any cosmetic updates, it has been updated with few mechanical changes. The New Bolero Power+ is claimed by the company to be more manoeuvrable, making weaving in and out of traffic a breeze.
The New Bolero Power+ is available at all Mahindra dealership across the country in 3 variants – SLE, SLX and ZLX. Colour options available for the Mahindra New Bolero are - Diamond White, Rocky Beige, Java Brown and Silver.
